Surface watch and callout times

1 Establish a specific contact person ahead of time

2 Provide the name of the cave, coordinates, general route/trip plan, and names of folks in your group

3 Give an expected callout time (ex. 6pm before dinner) and an emergency callout time (ex 8 am the following day, begin rescue)

Emergency callout:

Expect 911 will be called

Recomended to pick a time that is not the middle of the night

Providing info about cars is also useful.

Make sure to pack extra supplies anyways n case you get lost. 24hrs of supplies

Optimal group size 4 to 6 in case rescue needs to be contacted.

Melanie presented on webbing. Often 50 ft or 2 25 ft webbing.

Put knots at equal distance from each other. NCRC says 4 fingers.

Use basket hitch to create anchor for rope. You can anchor to people

Wrap 3 pull 2.

Water knot very good for webbing.

Tube webbing exists and is stronger than flat webbing. More resistant to abrasion
